Shirley Keisler is a recognized, highly skilled Family Law attorney who understands the emotional and financial impact a family law matter can have on an individual. She provides competent advice and guidance to her clients to help them navigate and resolve disputes involving complex financial matters, custody and access to children, child and spousal support, and the division of marital property-including the distribution of retirement assets.
Ms. Keisler provides strong representation in family law matters whether local or international in scope. Her practice encompasses negotiating and drafting international pre- and post-marital agreements; International custody and/or access agreements; she represents parents in cases of cross-border child abduction or child custody and access disputes, including cases brought under The Hague Convention on International Child Abduction. She is a strong advocate for her clients who are separated or divorcing with the goal being to help them achieve a satisfactory resolution of the equitable division of assets and property (including foreign-held investments), whether that property is in the United States or in another country. Other issues addressed in her practice include post-divorce modifications of court orders, or registration and enforcement of foreign court orders. Ms. Keisler represents clients in cases where the logistics of sharing parenting time is made more difficult because the parents live in different countries after ending their relationship or after divorce. She has represented foreign diplomats serving in the United States and those who are members of the United States Foreign Service or other US government agencies who are stationed abroad and is familiar with the unique issues that arise in the division of US foreign service and military pensions. Ms. Keisler provides expert testimony in international family law cases and has worked with local counsel regarding international divorce and custody matters in foreign jurisdictions including England, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Greece, Russia, Israel, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Japan.
